Born "Jay L. Jenkins", Young Jeezy is an American rapper from Atlanta, Georgia. He is signed to Def Jam as a solo artist and to Bad Boy Records as a member of the hip-hop quartet Boyz N Da Hood. One of his nicknames is "Snowman" because of his past as a drug dealer; "snow" is a slang term for cocaine.
His group's self-titled debut album, Boyz N Da Hood, was released on June 21, 2005 and peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. His debut solo album, Let's Get it: Thug Motivation 101, was released on July 26, 2005 and debuted at #2 selling 172,000 copies in its first week.
Young Jeezy has been featured in several popular 2005 hip-hop songs such as his own "And Then What" featuring Mannie Fresh and "Soul Survivor" featuring Akon, Gucci Mane's "So Icy", and Boyz N Da Hood's "Dem Boyz." In 2005, Young Jeezy also recorded a remix of "Go Crazy" with rappers Jay-Z and Fat Joe. The song is creating a buzz throughout the entire country, skyrocketing Young Jeezy's hip-hop status. Jeezy is currently planning to record a mixtape with Harlem rapper Juelz Santana.
